Irene Hits

We are getting hit hard by Irene...torrential rain and now tornado warnings hitting close to home. Not a good night by far.

However, we still have power. Who would have thought?

Hurricane Irene Gets Closer

The outer bands of Hurricane Irene have reached Southern New Jersey and it has been raining steadily for about two hours. As you can see from this photo the already heavily saturated ground (we've had a lot of rain lately) is already causing some flooding on our patio. This is a concern since the heavy rain hasn't even started yet!

On a happier note we have a stocked refrigerator full of food, plenty of water and ice and cold beer on ice!

More reports to follow...electricity willing.

Earthquakes, Hurricanes...Oh My!

It's been quite the week here in Southern New Jersey. On August 23 the Hat Trick experienced his first earthquake and now Hurricane Irene is barreling down on the East Coast of the United States and New Jersey. What a crazy week...

Hurricane Irene On Its Way

Mother nature is rearing her head again and the Hat Tricks are battening down for another hurricane. As I noted on Facebook earlier today...it's amazing how your priorities change. When Mrs. Hat Trick and I were preparing for Hurricane Isabel in 2003 when we lived in the Washington, DC area our biggest concern was having enough grenadine and vodka to make "Hurricanes"...now with two Little Hat Tricks our concern is enough water and dry food!

Will try to provide some photos and comment as the weekend progresses...electricity allowing!

Hat Trick Returns

I realize it's been a while but hopefully I can start posting again on a regular basis. It's been a busy winter, spring and fall. We went through a bad experience with Little Hat Trick and a serious illness over Christmas which really threw us for a loop. He's better now but still having some issues that we have a to work through.

That was not a great way to bring in the New Year!

However, in March fortune smiled on us and I was able to join the workforce again after a two year absence and am now lobbying in the State of New Jersey. I do some federal lobbying but primarily working Trenton with the New Jersey Legislature. It's a bit different here and I've seen some interesting things...including witnessing my first arrests at a public hearing! More on that later...but needless to say it's good to be working again.

Hopefully I can provide some comment on the upcoming New Jersey elections, the current state of affairs in Congress, some travel observations and, of course, some Red Wing hockey.

Welcome back and thanks for reading!
